About
History
The Twin Cities Silverlight User Group was established in May of 2008, by ILM Services. ILM is also the corporate sponsor of the Twin Cities .Net User Group. Scott Davis, owner and principal consultant for Ignition Point Solutions, was invited to assume the leadership role for the User Group in September of 2008, and leads the group today.
Mission
The Twin Cities Silverlight User Group (TCSLUG) is dedicated to delivering in-depth reviews of software development concepts, techniques, and design patters for Silverlight software development, as well as related technologies such as WPF, WCF, RIA Services, Expression Blend, etc.
Meetings
Meetings are held monthly at the local Microsoft Offices (8300 Norman Center Dr., Suite 950, Bloomington, MN, 55437). Meetings have a standing schedule of 12:00-1:30 pm, on the third Tuesday of the month. Pizza is provided for each meeting by our corporate sponsor, ILM. Attendees are asked to bring their own beverage.
Speakers
Speakers are selected from the community, and generally inquire about speaking, rather than being solicited to do so. Anyone interested in speaking should contact the user group leader, Scott Davis (tcslug[at]scott-davis[dot]com). Speakers may present on any technology that fits the mission of the group. Speakers may not promote their products or services beyond what is mentioned in an introduction.
Mailing List
TCSLUG collects email addresses from those that wish to be added to the mailing list. Our mailing list was originally seeded from the Twin Cities .Net User Group. Today, emails are only collected via the registration page on the TCSLUG.com website. Access to our email list is limited to the corporate sponsor, who hosts the website, and the user group leader. Registered users on the site may elect to have their email address publicly displayed on the site. Emails will not be displayed unless the registered user makes this election on his/her profile page.

Geek Speak
This site was built by Scott Davis of Ignition Point Solutions. The site was built using ASP MVC 2. The approach for the site was to expose the very minimum information necessary to make the site functional. The HTML version of this site is intended to primarily support mobile web browsers, as well as expose content for search engines. The longer term goal for the site it to allow group members to create versions of this site in Silverlight, with more features and better user experience. Ideally, we will allow members to create their own interpretation of this site, hosting one XAP per user. Visitors to the site will be able to review the different Silverlight sites, select their favorite and vote on which member has created the best experience. All information shown on the HTML version of the site, will be available for public consumption via OData feeds, allowing the developers to build sites that stay in sync with the main site. By allowing users to build a Silverlight version, we create a public place for our members to show off their talents and the reasons why Silverlight is a good choice for building web content. If you are interested in building a Silverlight version of this site, please contact the group leader.
